Course Overview
The B. Des. in Interior Architecture Design Program aims to provide students with the fundamentals of interior design, utilising technology to craft practical, aesthetic, and functional interior design spaces.
The program covers a broad spectrum of interior design processes, encompassing 3D sketching, construction, landscaping, technology, material procurement, and cultural studies, amongst others.
Led by industry experts, the B. Des. in Interior Architecture Design Program is meticulously curated, emphasising the importance of internships, hands-on training, and practical experience. Our esteemed faculty comprises practising architects, interior designers, researchers, and design practitioners. Moreover, we regularly arrange guest lectures, workshops, and masterclasses led by seasoned professionals, offering an unfiltered view of how the interior design field operates and what is expected of candidates.
Students also gain from a plethora of practical opportunities, including field visits, live industry projects, market surveys, workshops, and outstation field trips.
While the program provides an overview of both traditional and modern fundamentals of interior design, it also distinctly highlights the pivotal role of technology in crafting captivating spaces. Dr. Preetha is an accomplished architect-planner with over 23 years of experience in industry and academia. She’s adept at strategic decision-making and performance-driven approaches, managing housing projects, optimizing land use, and planning sustainable infrastructures. With a motto of "inspire, engage, and learn," she encourages her students to hone their critical thinking and comprehensive skills to sustainable development. She collaborates with organizations specializing in environment and sustainability for supporting faculty development & industry exposure to students.A fitness enthusiast, Dr Preetha enjoys sketching & painting. Her current research focuses on assessing the livability index of different communities to ensure affordability while maintaining the quality of life.
In 2022, during 18th Rashtriya Shiksha Gaurav Puraskar Ceremony by Centre for Education Growth and Research(CEGR) she was awarded with Exemplary Academic Leader of the Year.

Puja Anand
Professor
Puja possesses a comprehensive background spanning 24 years, which encompasses both academic and industry expertise. She holds a degree in Interior Design and a Masters in Higher Education.
To further enhance her academic qualifications, Puja pursued a Post-Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from Nottingham Trent University, UK in 2012. Additionally, she completed a Faculty Development Programme at the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and gained valuable teaching experience at NID.
Puja's passion lies in exploring and celebrating India's rich traditional culture and heritage, particularly in the context of applying cultural crafts to interiors and spatial design. She recognizes the importance of sustainability and design education and actively engages with these areas of interest. Puja has authored numerous papers on Design Education, Crafts, Sustainability, and the application of crafts in Interiors. Her works have garnered international and national recognition, published in esteemed publications and presented at reputable conferences. Additionally, she has engaged in research and product development within the crafts sector, yielding further publications. She firmly believes in the role of cultural crafts in modern interiors, emphasizing their potential to preserve and celebrate our rich heritage and culture. In addition to her academic pursuits.
Puja holds prominent roles in the design community. She serves as the General Secretary and Joint Head of Academic Outreach in the Delhi Chapter of the Association of Designers of India (ADI), further demonstrating her commitment to fostering collaboration and advancement in the design industry.

Tapan K. Chakravarty

With 37 years of profound expertise, Tapan contributes his wealth of knowledge as a faculty of Interior Design at Pearl Academy. His educational foundation spans revered institutions like the School of Planning & Architecture (New Delhi) and Nottingham Trent University (UK).
Tapan's professional tapestry is interwoven with influential names in architecture and urban design, with notable engagements at organisations like UNDP and INTACH. As an architect at the helm of his own practice, he orchestrated captivating and pioneering projects, earning a prestigious First-Prize distinction in a national-level Urban Design competition for a commercial urban infill.
Tapan's influence resonates beyond practice, as he's adorned various roles in Delhi-NCR's educational landscape, from Studio Director to Dean of School. His impact extends nationwide, with his involvement as a Board of Studies/Faculty member at esteemed Design Institutes.

Nidhi Bindal
Associate Professor
Nidhi Bindal is an accomplished Associate Professor at Pearl Academy with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the TVB School of Habitat Studies and a Master's degree in Architectural Pedagogy from Jamia Millia Islamia.
Collaborating with architectural luminaries, including Prof. K.T. Ravindran, Anagram Architects, and Nila Architecture and Urban Design, Nidhi's portfolio is a tapestry of innovation spanning residential, office, institute, theatre set, installation, and exhibition designs. Her laurels include the Installation Award at the Emrg Festival of Light, the Kyoorius Absolut Born Colourless Poster Competition, and the Reliance Foundation Teacher Award.

Richard Bara
Associate Professor
Richard Bara, an adept academic in design, channels a decade of expertise as an Associate Professor of Interior Design at Pearl Academy. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the prestigious School of Planning and Architecture and a Master's degree in Interior Architecture and Design.
Richard's professional odyssey ignited as an intern at the Design Innovation and Craft Resource Centre (DICRC) in Ahmedabad. Engaging in the centre's Space Making Craft (SMC) initiatives, he honed his craft in crafting spaces that seamlessly blend innovation and craftsmanship.

Professor
Renuka Jain, a professor of Interior Design at Pearl Academy, boasts an exceptional 30-year fusion of industry and academic prowess. Renuka's rich tapestry includes achievements in Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Education, and Construction Management.
Aligned with distinguished institutions like BMTPC, IIID, and Design Gurukul, Renuka is a certified Healthy Building expert, channelling her energies into crafting space championing well-being and sustainability.
Driven by her passion for incorporating local culture and craftsmanship into the design, Renuka pursued a certificate course in the Role of Crafts and Technology in Interior Architecture from IIT Roorkee. Renuka has also completed her PGCAP, further enhancing her teaching capabilities.
She is deeply committed to nurturing young minds and sharing her extensive experience in the field of design. Her expertise spans building structure, material technology, construction techniques, building services, estimating and costing, and project management.

Kislaya Varma

Paricher Tavaria, a seasoned Faculty in Fashion Communication at Pearl Academy, is known for her positive realism and diverse talents. With a remarkable career spanning over 23 years, Paricher has seamlessly navigated various media landscapes across the Middle East, India, and the UK. She embarked on her journey at just 18, honing her skills and earning certification from the BBC in TV Journalism.
Throughout her noteworthy career, Paricher has collaborated with distinguished media figures and renowned brands, including photojournalist Pablo Bartholomew, Wilderness Films, Radio Mirchi, and Salt Brand Solutions. In her role as a creative director, she has spearheaded projects for tech, luxury, and fashion for brands like Microsoft and Calvin Klein.
Her dedication and exceptional flair have garnered her numerous scholarships and awards, including recognition for her contributions to British Asian music and culture by DM Digital Global TV. She's also been lauded with the Gujarat Women Empowerment Award and secured a spot in the Indian Achievers Club's 40 under 40 list.

Urmimala B Bora
Associate Professor
Urmimala B Bora, an accomplished Associate Professor with a quarter-century experience, is a versatile professional with a rich academic and design background. She holds a PG Diploma in Spatial Design & Styling (Interior Design) from IED, Milan, following a 2-year Interior Design program from Jenson & Nicholson, Delhi.
Her academic journey encompasses Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Higher Education, complemented by her Commerce degree with honours and C.A. intermediate qualifications. Urmimala's pedagogical engagement dates back to 2003, involving multiple design institutes before her tenure at Pearl Academy.
Simultaneously, she's been actively involved in various residential and commercial projects under the banner "Designers' Guild." Her Interior design and Styling prowess were acknowledged during her association with the American Embassy, Chanakyapuri. An opportunity to attend workshops in Copenhagen and design conferences at the Stanford University of Design adds to her professional growth.

Apurv Prakash
Associate Professor
Apurv Prakash, an esteemed associate professor at Pearl Academy, boasts 17 years of industry expertise. He's a multi-talented figure as an architect, interior designer, and academician, armed with a Master's Degree in architecture, focused on design. His educational journey includes an M.Arch. from the University of Houston, USA, and a B.Arch. from the University of Pune, India. Furthermore, he completed a one-year PG certificate course in Academic Practice at Pearl Academy.

Bringing over two decades of invaluable expertise in the Architecture and Interior Design Industry, Kavita Faterpaker holds the role of Associate Professor of Interior Design at Pearl Academy. She completed her education in Architecture in Mumbai.
Kavita's professional trajectory features collaborations with eminent international design firms such as WD Partners, Fitch UK, Archatelie, and Conant Architects. Her portfolio boasts a diverse range of local and global brands, including Old Navy, GAP, Victoria’s Secret, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Tata Motors, Shoppers Stop, Westside, and Little Italy.
Representing Pearl Academy, Kavita was a Panelist Speaker for Asia's Young Designer Award for two consecutive years at the National Final Jury. She also took on the role of Moderator for the 7th National Design Talk Series by the Confederation of Indian Industry and World Design Organization in 2022.

Priyanka Khattar
Associate Professor
Priyanka Khattar, an esteemed Assistant Professor with 17 years of experience, embodies interior designer, stylist, and educator roles. Her journey, marked by a Bachelor’s degree in B. Bhagyashri Sharma holds the position of Department Lead for the Interior Design team in the North Zone at Pearl Academy. With a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, she's a dynamic professional pursuing her PhD research at the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi.

Associate Professor
Gulshankumar Sharma is an Associate Professor of Interior Design at Pearl Academy with over 15 years of rich experience. He completed his Master's in Urban Planning and graduated in Architecture from Mumbai University with First Class Honours.
His creative journey began in Mumbai, where he spent over 8 years honing his skills in various Architecture & Design firms. His passion transcends scale, from city-level Urban interventions to personally tailored, small-scale design products.
Notably, he was chosen for a Cultural and Vocational exchange to represent India in Germany in 2009, where his architectural photographs adorned galleries in Berlin, Brandenburg, and Lubeck. His expertise led him to Paris-based ENSAPLV, where he conducted enlightening sessions on learning from Indian Cities, driven by his research in heritage, art, urban public space, and culture.
Alongside his co-founder, he founded FADU - Fashion Architecture Design United, a multi-disciplinary practice traversing the realms of design. Nidhi Joshi, serving as the Department Lead - Interior Design, South Region at Pearl Academy, boasts an 11-year journey marked by her roles as an architect, interior designer, academic, and green building consultant.
A B.Arch graduate from B.M.S.C.E, Bengaluru, Nidhi furthered her education with an M.Arch in Environmental Architecture from BNCA, Pune. Her commitment to sustainable practices is evident through her accreditation as an Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Professional.
Nidhi's career has seen her collaboration with esteemed entities such as Jaisim-Fountainhead, Design Café, Sanctuary Architects and interior designers, and Elba Kitchens - Australia. Across diverse building typologies, she's worked on residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
Her specialisation in net-zero-energy-water-waste buildings is exemplified through her role as a Technical Resource Group (TRG) member for Solar Decathlon India, a national collegiate competition.
